Synthesis method

Using N,N-dimethylaniline as raw material, it can be produced by two methods. (1) React with urotropine to produce methylene-N,N-dimethylaminobenzylamine, transpose to produce N,N-dimethylbenzylidene methylamine, and then hydrolyze to get the product. (2) Reacting with dimethylformamide in the presence of phosphorus trichloroxide. In addition, there is a laboratory preparation method in which N,N-dimethylaniline, sodium nitrite and formaldehyde are used as raw materials.

Dye intermediate and analytical reagent. It is used to determine indole, fecal odorant, urinary blue mother, tryptophan and ergot alkaloids, etc. It is also used to distinguish serum rash and scarlet fever. In dyestuff, it can be used to synthesize pressure heat-sensitive dyes. It is also used in the production of cationic Brilliant Red G (C.I. Basic Red 52).
